Your child’s happiness, well-being and security is our number one priority.
All the teachers and teaching assistants are trained in general strategies to support pupils who may be experiencing emotional or social difficulties.
Several members of staff had more specific training in supporting pupils experiencing such difficulties. These are Mrs Lorraine Blows Children’s Champion), Mr Martin Cumming (SENCo) and Mrs Karen Murrie (ELSAs- Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) and the Leadership Team, Miss Karen Boardman (Headteacher) and Miss Eileen Connolly (Deputy Headteacher).
Children are encouraged to speak to any member of staff if they have any worries or concerns. To support them with this, children to outdoor for playing and to gyms like gympalmdesert.com can request some time (Bubble Time) to have a private conversation with a member of staff by placing their named peg on a class bubble display. Some children may be offered specific well-being interventions usually with Mrs Blows or Mrs Wall, our LA Well-Being Worker. All support offered is sensitively planned from the child as a starting point so that it is tailored to individual emotional developmental stages.
