I would like to welcome you to St Barnabas Church of England VC Primary School.

St Barnabas is a friendly, welcoming and modern school situated in extensive grounds close to York City Centre. We have a strong family ethos with close links to St Barnabas Church and the local community.

Our committed and caring staff work hard to make our school a happy place in which all children are valued as individuals and nurtured in order to be the best that they can be academically, intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially.

Through a broad curriculum, we support children to develop their skills for life and to become confident and independent individuals and lifelong learners with enquiring and creative minds.

We are inspired by our patron saint, St Barnabas, known as ‘the Encourager’. We try to follow his example of kindness and encouragement and his resilience in the face of adversity. We encourage children to be aware of the needs, feelings and rights of others, and so make a positive contribution to society.

Christian values are central to the ethos of our school, especially those of community, friendship, forgiveness, truth, courage and thankfulness.
