New Opportunity for York’s Children to Sing and Perform with Gospel Choir
Following the choir’s success in 2017, including performing with top soul and gospel musicians at the nationally acclaimed Andraé Crouch Tribute, parents are now able to put their children forward for this opportunity with international gospel artist Libby Redman.
Libby says, ‘I’m super excited about seeing children from York getting to develop both their vocal and performance skills like I was able to do, by singing gospel from a young age. Making music, performing and participating in a performing arts project can build a child’s confidence and self-esteem. Helping each child to recognise his or her value and develop their own unique creativity within the framework of artistic expression can be liberating and life-changing! I’m also very excited that this choir will give children whose parents can’t afford musical tuition the chance to develop their skills. This is something fresh for York’s children, which I believe will enable them to explore and develop their talents in ways they may not have been able to do before.’
Previously in 2017 during the pilot scheme, the choir put together their own Christmas performance, were interviewed on BBC radio (those aged between 6 & 10 years old), and they enjoyed performing and recording for the first time with some of the best gospel musicians in the North of England.
Places in the tryouts are free of charge but must be booked in advance. Tickets can be booked at www.tinyurl.com/gogospel .
