1 Thessalonians

• To develop an understanding and appreciation of a range of religions and world views.
• To explore key questions about religion and belief through reflection, discussion, dialogue and debate, so as to promote pupils’ personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
• To enable learners to become aware of their own beliefs and values and to have a positive attitude to the search for meaning and purpose in life.
• To encourage learners to develop a positive attitude towards other people who hold religious beliefs different from their own.

By learning ‘What it is like’ for people with other religions, values and beliefs, children develop a mutual respect for other people’s views and beliefs.

Children are encouraged to be open minded and curious about other views and religious beliefs. They ask and suggest answers to ‘big’ questions about life and religious concepts.

Children are encouraged to have the courage to put forward / stand up for own beliefs and viewpoints and communicate these respectfully.
